Nurse Jobs In Hartford Connecticut

HARTFORD — Nurses and other health care providers are joining forces with state legislators to try and stop Gov. Jodi Rell from getting rid of the state’s licensed practical nursing program.

If you are looking for a nurse job on the US East Coast perhaps you might want to check in with Connecticut’s Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford, where there is a nursing shortage of 8%.

The hospital’s chief nursing officer says several factors are at work including an aging workforce, career changes, and the long hours.

The tension between providing quality patient care and building overtime for nurses inspired a nurse job fair at the medical center. Nurses remain in high demand nationwide, though some regions are seeing a leveling off in nurse job vacancies. The problem is so bad that Congress is considering legislation, the Emergency Nurse Supply Relief Act, that would allow up to 60,000 nurses to enter the United States from abroad.
